Testing the Resiners Air Purifier: Big Box Energy Meets Resin Room Reality – WITH DISCOUNT CODES!

Hey friends! So something exciting landed (quite literally) on our doorstep this week, and we just had to share it with you. On Tuesday, the folks over at Resiners asked if we’d like to try out their new Pure Air resin air purifier. Naturally, we said yes—because when you get offered a shiny new gadget that promises cleaner craft air, you don’t say no. Especially when you play with resin and own more types of alcohol ink than actual alcohol.

So here’s how it went…

🎁 Unboxing the Beast

It arrived first thing Wednesday morning—when one of us (naming no names) was still in their dressing gown—and the box was massive. We thought we’d need to rearrange the whole room. Thankfully, once unboxed, the unit itself was big, but not terrifyingly so. Big enough to feel serious, but not so huge you’d need to move house.

We’ve actually used a bunch of Resiners gear before—their debubbler, UV light, and the curing machine (thanks, thoughtful offspring). So we were already familiar with their clean design and consistent colour scheme. Bonus points for matching the aesthetic of a tidy, fume-aware life.

🛠️ Setup: Surprisingly Simple

Setup was a breeze—pop off the lid, slide in the filter (this side up, of course), plug it in (UK plug included, yay for not needing an adapter jungle), and twist it shut. The unit powers on with a simple touch interface and gives real-time readings of temperature, humidity, TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds), and air quality—colour coded from green (good) to red (very not good).

There’s also a timer setting, fan speed adjustment, and filter life indicator. But honestly, we mostly just left it on Auto and got on with our day.

🧪 We Tried to Break It (in the Name of Science)

Well, not literally. But we did try to set it off. In the name of science. Obviously.

Using our usual Craft Resin (which has no VOCs), it stayed in the green zone. Great news for resin crafters who prefer the low-fume lifestyle. But once we started playing with alcohol inks? Oh boy.

A little blue alcohol ink? Slow rise. A few drops of orange? Straight to red like it saw a spider. It was fascinating to see how quickly the unit responded—not just to mixing resin, but even to minor spritzes of isopropyl on a silicone mat.

And yes, it gets louder when it needs to. At TVOC level 0.5 the fan kicks up, and at 1 or above it’s working hard, clearly doing its thing. Definitely earned its keep during those ink-heavy sessions.

📏 Does Size Matter?

Okay, real talk: it’s not a tiny unit. If you’re crafting in a shoebox-sized space, this might feel intrusive—but also more necessary. We’re lucky to have a big, well-ventilated room, so it slots neatly between our workspaces without any drama. For smaller studios, you might need to shuffle a few things, but honestly? Breathing clean air is worth the shuffle.

🎨 Bonus Projects + Observations

We also did a few pours while testing—everything from a moody dragon to yet another attempt at a laramar (worst. word. ever). Kirk even had a go at that elusive crackle effect, but spoiler alert: it didn’t go to plan. Still, it’s all good learning.

We noticed the air purifier reacted differently depending on pigment types and pouring stages. For example, mica powder + resin didn’t spike it during mixing, but got picked up while pouring. Suspicious mica? Maybe. Intriguing? Definitely.

🧼 Cleaner Desk, Cleaner Air

Between the resin mixes, dragon molds, and more than one uninvited bubble in a horn, the purifier quietly did its job. It even caught the fumes from cleaning the desk—someone else’s desk, I might add. You’re welcome, Kirk.

✅ First Impressions

After a week of testing, our verdict?

✔️ Easy setup
✔️ Intuitive controls
✔️ Responsive air monitoring
✔️ Really does pull VOCs from the air
✔️ Quiet in normal mode, not disruptive in turbo
✔️ Big, but not unreasonably so
✔️ Ideal for serious crafters or shared creative spaces

If you work with resins, alcohol inks, or even just want to reduce airborne nasties in your studio, this feels like a solid investment. No, it won’t replace your PPE—but it’s a fantastic added layer of safety and peace of mind. Especially if you’re breathing in more than you’re letting on.
